Peter Bryant —

Freelance developer specialising in cross-platform mobile apps built with Flutter.

How I work

What you get when we work together

Six things that stay true whether I'm building something new or keeping something old alive.

Native iOS & Android from one codebase

Flutter apps that feel native on both platforms, built once and maintained as a single codebase.

Ongoing maintenance & support

Bug fixes, OS updates, and dependency upgrades, so your app keeps working as iOS and Android change under it.

Technical consulting

Advice on architecture, stack choices, and whether Flutter is the right fit before you commit to a build.

Custom design system

Interfaces built around your brand rather than a generic component kit, when a project calls for it.

Fast, reliable builds

Clean architecture and sensible defaults that keep an app quick to build on and easy to maintain.

Direct communication

You work with me directly, from the first conversation to the finished app. No account managers, no handoffs.

Principles

Three things I won't compromise on

They don't change from project to project.

Performance First

Apps that feel instant: smooth animations, fast startup, no jank on either platform.

Craftsmanship

Clean, typed Dart code and sensible architecture, built to be maintained for years, not just shipped once.

One Codebase, Every Platform

Flutter ships iOS, Android, web, and desktop from one codebase. Less code to duplicate, fewer places for bugs to hide.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

The questions I get asked most, answered honestly.

About Flutter

What is Flutter?
Flutter is Google's UI toolkit for building natively compiled apps for iOS, Android, web, and desktop from a single codebase, using the Dart language.
Why build with Flutter instead of native?
One codebase for iOS and Android means less duplicated work, fewer places for bugs to hide, and faster delivery, without giving up a native look and feel.
Can a Flutter app feel truly native?
Yes. Flutter renders its own UI rather than wrapping native components, so animations and interactions can be tuned to feel right on each platform rather than settling for a lowest common denominator.
Does Flutter work for more than just phones?
Yes. The same codebase can target web and desktop too (macOS, Windows, Linux), alongside iOS and Android, when a project needs it.

Working with me

What kind of projects do you take on?
New Flutter apps from scratch, ongoing maintenance and support for existing apps, and technical consulting on architecture or feasibility.
Are you a company or agency?
I'm a one-person business: a freelancer, not an agency. You work directly with the person doing the work, from the first talk to the finished app.
Do you work with clients outside the UK?
Yes. Most projects run entirely over video and email, and time zones are rarely a real problem.
Can you take over an app someone else built?
Often, yes. I review the existing codebase first and I'm upfront about what's involved before we agree on anything.
